UW chases eighth-straight Big Ten title
MADISON, Wis. – The postseason has arrived. The No. 15 Wisconsin men's cross country team heads east for the Big Ten Championships on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan. The men's 8K race is set to begin at 9:35 a.m. and will be followed by the women's 6K race at 10:35 a.m.
The Badgers will race for their 56th Big Ten Cross Country Championship and eighth conference title-in-a-row.

1. B1G LOOK BACK: Bob Liking made history at the 2024 Big Ten Cross Country Championships, becoming the fourth men's student-athlete to win four Big Ten men's cross country titles and the second to win four-straight. Liking also set a Big Ten Conference record with his time of 22:47.3, breaking Purdue's Matt McClintock's previous 8K record of 23:12 set in 2015. Liking, Christian de Vaal and Matan Ivri earned first team All-Big Ten honors while Johnny Livingstone and Ellenberg collected second-team conference accolades. In addition, de Vaal and Ivri were named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
2. HISTORY FOR BYRNE: Last year, UW Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mick Byrne earned his 14th Big Ten men's cross country title, passing Badger legend Martin Smith for the most in conference history. Byrne will be looking to widen the record books, searching for his 15th title on Friday.
3. NEW TERRITORY: Friday marks the first time UW will be racing at the Forest Akers East Golf Course in the 2025 season. The Spartans last hosted the Big Ten Cross Country Championships in 2012 and the 2026 Great Lakes Regional will also be hosted in East Lansing.
4. B1G COMPETITION: The Badgers, No. 15, lineup against a competitive Big Ten field, featuring No. 10 Oregon and No. 13 Michigan State in the USTFCCCA rankings. Michigan State placed seventh with 245 points at the 2025 Nuttycombe Invitational presented by Under Armour, while Wisconsin followed close behind in 9th place with 271 points.
5. UP NEXT: The postseason moves on with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Evansville, Indiana on Friday, Nov. 14
