TEAM NOTES

  • The Badgers finished 12-6 in Big Ten play to secure a second-place finish in the league standings and the No. 2 seed for the Big Ten tournament. 
  • Wisconsin has won at least 12 Big Ten games for the eighth consecutive season, the longest active streak in the conference (Purdue has the next longest at three).
  • UW won its 23rd game of the season, equaling the 11th-highest win total in school history. Each of the 12 highest single-season win totals have come in the last 15 years.
  • Wisconsin improved to 15-2 at home this season. The Badgers have won 21 of their last 23 games at the Kohl Center. UW is now 23-4 (.852) at the Kohl Center under Gard.
  • Thursday's crowd of 17,287 marked the 56th consecutive sellout at the Kohl Center.
  • The Badgers have won seven straight meetings with Minnesota, dating back to 2014. 
  • UW has won six straight over the Golden Gophers at the Kohl Center and leads the teams' all-time series in Madison, 63-33. Minnesota's last win at the Kohl Center came in 2009.
  • In its final Kohl Center appearance, Wisconsin's four-man senior class of Vitto Brown, Nigel Hayes, Bronson Koenig and Zak Showalter won its 111th game, matching the Badgers' 2015 senior class for the second-highest win total over a four-year period in school history. Only the 2016 senior class (115) has recorded more wins.
  • UW's seniors combined to score 46 points (Koenig 17, Hayes 12, Showalter 12, Brown 5).
  • Wisconsin held Minnesota to 49 points, its second-lowest scoring output of the season (47 at Michigan State on Jan. 11). The Gophers entered the game averaging 76.1 points per game in Big Ten play.
  • The Badgers limited Minnesota to a season-low shooting percentage of 32.1%. 
  • UW committed just 10 turnovers, giving the Badgers 10 or fewer giveaways in four of their last five games.
  • The Badgers shot a season-best 55.6% (10-for-18) from 3-point range, their first performance of 50.0% or better since hitting 50.0% (7-for-14) at Minnesota on Jan. 21.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • Senior G Bronson Koenig scored 17 points, matching the game high, on 5-for-8 shooting from 3-point range in 23 minutes of action. Koenig extended his own school record and now owns 247 career 3-pointers. Koenig went 9-for-16 (.563) from beyond the arc in UW's final two regular-season games. Over UW's last four games, Koenig has averaged 20.0 points.
  • Senior G Zak Showalter scored 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, his third consecutive double-figure scoring game. Showalter has gone a combined 7-for-14 from 3-point range during that three-game stretch, including a 2-for-3 showing vs. Minnesota.
  • Senior F Nigel Hayes scored 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting and added 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
  • Sophomore F Ethan Happ grabbed 13 rebounds – his 13th double-digit rebounding game of the season – to go along with 9 points, 5 assists and 2 blocks.
  • Freshman G D'Mitrik Trice scored 8 points on 3-for-6 shooting, adding 2 assists and 3 steals in 26 minutes.
