Wisconsin vs. Illinois Postgame

Junior RF Chloe Miller

On going into the doubleheader with Green Bay
"Every year we play Green Bay, they come out wanting to beat the Wisconsin team so they come out fighting hard. I think this game will give us a really good chance to get back at the couple losses we had this weekend. We'll go out there and fight for a full seven innings and try to really beat a team."

 On highlights of today's game
"Our defense and pitching staff was the highlight. This is a very good hitting team and they put the ball in play and got runners on and even if they got to third base, we would still shut them down all the way until the sixth inning. Our defense and pitching really held their own today."

On getting five wins against Big Ten teams
"It's very exciting. Coming off the year we had last year when were far down in the Big Ten, getting those clutch wins against Minnesota, Ohio State and now Illinois is very good for us going into our last six games and off into the tournament."

 Head Coach Yvette Healy

On the atmosphere at todays game
"We're committed to the community and getting out there and doing a lot of camps and clinics. When you see kids show up and cheer for the Badgers with their faces painted, it means a lot to our team. Playing against a big crowd is tough. It's wonderful and exciting but for some of our players, they've never seen anything like it. A lot of them have never seen a band at the game. This atmosphere helps you get ready for the postseason and the Big Ten tournament because it's what it feels like. Of course you want to come away with the win with that many fans but I'm just proud of them putting together a really good game."

 On highlights of today's game
"I thought the pitching was phenomenal. Just to hold Illinois' offense to one run is a really big deal. Even the one they scored was a fielder's choice it wasn't even a legitimate crushed hit. The whole weekend we kept the ball in the park against a really big home run hitting team and I'm proud of that. We had a lot of opportunities today as well even though we didn't have a lot of hits. You just keep trying to put yourself in a position to win. In the bottom of the sixth, we get a big hit to lead off and nine times out of 10, I think we're going to score but today they just shut us down."

On going into the game against Green Bay
"It's an emotional game against an in-state rivalry. Green Bay plays really hard and I think we're looking to get back on track and get some wins at home. It's fun to play in-state kids and bring our A-games to get wins."
