Geoff Hanson is in his 11th year at Wisconsin and his ninth season as the assistant head coach. He works primarily with the Badgers' distance and IM swimmers.
Hanson came to Wisconsin from the University of Arizona, his alma mater, where he served as a volunteer assistant coach for two years. Hanson worked with the middle distance and distance swimmers in weight training and cross training, as well as stroke and technique work.
During that time he also was the assistant senior coach, head developmental coach and masters assistant coach with Hillenbrand Aquatics of Tucson, Ariz. Hanson also has worked numerous camps and clinics and serves as the director of Badger swim camps.
Hanson was a four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain at Arizona. He was a 1996 NCAA All-American and a Pac-10 Conference finalist for four years. Hanson also was a finalist at the U.S. Nationals.
A 1998 graduate of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in sociology, Hanson earned Pac-10 All-Academic honors and was a four-time Mary Roby Academic Achievement award recipient.
Hanson and his wife, Kellee, live in Madison.
