Game Day Voucher Exchange

On game day, students exchange their ticket voucher for admission into the Kohl Center at the student gate, which is located on the north end (Dayton Street) of the Kohl Center adjacent to Gate A. Voucher exchange begins 60 minutes prior to tip-off. The process for exchanging student vouchers for reserved seat tickets will closely resemble the process used for football. However, to minimize the amount of time students may spend outside in inclement weather, students will not be allowed to wait in line for voucher exchange until THREE hours before the puck is dropped**. This policy will be enforced through a lottery drawing of students arriving for a game more than three hours before tip-off.

** Please note that on days where there is a home football game or a double-header of games in the Kohl Center, the voucher exchange time line is subject to change. Students will be sent an e-mail with any change in the voucher exchange time line.

Students are encouraged to come to the student gate when they plan on entering the Kohl Center. Students wishing to sit together should enter through the student gate at the same time, get in a single file line, and have their vouchers scanned by the same ticket-taker. Following this procedure will ensure that groups of friends are allocated tickets together. Once again, the student entrance and voucher exchange will commence 60 minutes prior to tip-off.

Also please note that voucher exchange will be available until the start of the 3rd period , at which time the student gate will be closed. Students will not be allowed to enter the Kohl Center once the student gate is closed.

Once inside the student gate, students will have their vouchers scanned by ticket-takers. After the voucher has been scanned, students will receive a reserved seat ticket from a representative of the Athletic Ticket Office. Tickets will be distributed from the rows closest to the ice on through to the top rows of the 300 level student sections. Students are required to sit in the section, row and seat that are printed on the ticket they receive.

Once students enter the arena and receive their ticket, they may not exit the arena and re-enter just by showing their ticket. Students also must sit in their designated section, row and seat, and must have their ticket in hand at all times, or are subject to removal from the Kohl Center.

Students are not allowed to have personal items (chairs, blankets, games, etc.) while waiting in line to exchange vouchers for tickets. Restrooms will not be available until gates open. All food and drinks must be disposed of in the proper receptacles. There is to be no alcohol of any kind. Students found with alcohol will have their tickets revoked for the remainder of the season.

Game Day Voucher Exchange-Lottery Procedures

On game days, a lottery will be conducted for students who choose to arrive for voucher exchange more than three hours before the puck is dropped. The lottery will determine the voucher exchange line order for all students arriving prior to three hours before the puck is dropped. Procedures for participating in the voucher exchange line order lottery are as follows:

  • Students arriving more than three hours before the puck is dropped should register with Athletic Department staff just inside the doors of the student gate, beginning three and one half hours before the puck is dropped (i.e. 3:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. game)
  • Students wishing to sit together may register a group of up to six (6) people for the lottery. All group members must be present and have a voucher to be included in the group. Once the group registers, no additions may be made to the group
  • Each group must identify one group member as the group "captain". Each group will be assigned a number and an envelope. The name of the group captain, as well as the group number, will be written on the envelope. Vouchers for each group member will be collected and put in the envelope, which will be sealed.
  • Three hours before the puck is dropped, the registration of groups will end, and the lottery drawing will commence. The first envelope drawn will be the first group in line, the second envelope drawn will be the second group in line, the third envelope drawn will be the third group in line and so on.
  • Athletic Department staff will assist lottery participating groups in formulating the wait line outside the student gate of the Kohl Center. All group members must wait in line for the duration of the 60 minutes between the lottery drawing and when doors to the Kohl Center open. Each group will be given a laminated number card which represents the group's place in line
  • Once the lottery line has been set, a representative of the Athletic Department will return each group's vouchers to each captain. Vouchers will be returned to each captain as groups are called forward, one at a time, to enter the Kohl Center 60 minutes before the puck is dropped
  • The Athletic Department reserves the right to randomly check groups once the line has been set, to ensure that all registered group members are waiting in line. Group members not present at the time of the check will be removed from the group. Additionally, the voucher belonging to the missing group member will be returned to the group captain
  • If a group member decides to leave the wait line, for whatever reason, the group member and the group captain must inform the athletic department representative inside the student gate, so that the voucher can be returned to the departing group member
  • 60 minutes before the puck is dropped, lottery participating groups will begin entering the Kohl Center through the student gate, have their vouchers scanned, and be given a reserved seat ticket. Students not participating in a lottery will not have their vouchers scanned until all lottery participating groups have entered the facility.
