MADISON, Wis. – The 12th-seeded Wisconsin volleyball team (25-9) will play Florida State (26-7) on Friday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill. The Badgers and Seminoles kick off regional play followed by Illinois (18-14) taking on Purdue (22-11) at 6 p.m. Semifinal winners will advance to the regional final on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
Both regional semifinal matches will be streamed live on ESPN3 with the regional final live on ESPNU/WatchESPN.
Wisconsin is making its first NCAA Regional appearance since 2006 and its 11th Sweet 16 appearance in program history. The Badgers advanced after sweeping Milwaukee and California in the first and second rounds, respectively, of the tournament.
UW and Florida State will meet for the first time in program history on Friday. The Seminoles advanced to regional play after sweeping Georgia Southern in the first round and upsetting fifth-seeded Florida, 3-2, in the second round.
The Badgers split with Purdue in Big Ten Conference play this season, winning 3-0 in Madison on Sept. 27 but losing 3-2 in West Lafayette, Ind., on Nov. 2. Wisconsin and Illinois met only once this season with the Illini winning 3-1 in Madison on Oct. 27.
Tickets for the regional are on sale now through the Illinois Athletic Ticket Office. All-sessions (three matches) reserved seats are $25 while general admission tickets are $14 for adults and $10 for youth. Single-session tickets will go on sale Friday and are $10 for a reserved seat and $7 for general admission.
