MADISON, Wis. - Last Friday when the Badger volleyball team took on Indiana at the UW Field House, fifth grader Olivia Ganser kicked off her reporting career as she was selected as Bucky’s Junior Reporter of the match. Olivia got to meet Coach Waite and senior Alexis Mitchell before the match, sat on media row during the match, and even attended the post-match press conference. Below is her recap of the Badgers match vs. Indiana.

On Friday I got to watch and report on the Wisconsin Badgers vs. Indiana Hoosiers volleyball match. In the first game the Badgers were losing 6-11 and then had a 7-0 streak to get back in the lead. Courtney Thomas spiked the ball for a kill to take a 12-11 lead. The Badgers held on and took a one set to none advantage.

In the second set, the Badgers were down 6-13. Then had a 4-0 streak to help them be down 10-13. The Badgers continued to work hard together but lost 17-25. After two sets Jordan Haverly led the Hoosiers with eight kills and seven digs.

In the third set the Badgers were doing pretty good keeping up with the Hoosiers until the end when it was 20-24. Then the Badgers worked their way up until it was 25-25 with Alexis Mitchell serving. The Badgers fought hard all the way until the score was 28-29. Then the Hoosiers got the winning point.

At the beginning of the fourth set the Badgers were up 2-1 but they were never in the lead again. Even though the Badgers lost the game 21-25 they still fought hard and never gave up on themselves.

Wisconsin plays Illinois on Friday at 7:00 pm. I am sure that Wisconsin will win all three sets in a row. Going to a UW Badger game is a great experience for all ages.
