MADISON, Wis. - Lindsay Danielson, Alex Brill, Chris Prince and Alexis Mitchell have been named UW Student-Athletes of the Month for October. Each athlete was selected from a pool of candidates nominated by coaches and academic advisors and voted on by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Student-athletes must be academically eligible and in good academic standing, have obtained an outstanding achievement or recognition in academics, make a significant contribution to their respective team and be actively engaged in community service.

Danielson is a finance and investment banking major in the School of Business and serves as one of the women's golf SAAC voting reps.  She led the team in scoring last year, and currently holds the tournament-low scoring average for the team.

With a 75.30 three-year scoring average, she is on-pace to finish No. 1 in career scoring. This fall, she finished 13th out of 81 players at the Windy City Collegiate hosted by Northwestern on Oct. 1-2.  Danielson is a three-time member of the National Golf Coaches Association of American Academic All-Scholar team and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Madison native Brill is a mechanical engineering major. The junior won the Badger Opener on Sept. 7, at the Zimmer Championship Course and was named Big Ten Runner of the Week, while also being featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd".

Brill also finished third -- and was UW's top finisher -- at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Sept. 29, in Chicago. Brill's individual performances helped extend the Badgers' team win streak to nine-consecutive meets, dating back to last season.

In the month of September, Mitchell led the Badgers in most major offensive categories. She led the team with a .359 hitting percentage (121-29-256), 2.75 kills per set, 156 points and was second in blocks per set (1.14).

In that span, the Badger volleyball team went 9-3 including a 3-0 record and championship at the InnTowner Invitational in Madison.

Prince is a junior forward/midfielder and one of three captains of the men's soccer team. He is an exceptional student, currently enrolled in the Business School. He is a tireless worker and supportive teammate.

Last season, Prince earned All-Big Ten second team honors after recording four goals and one assist. Prince currently leads the team with two goals and three assists for seven points and ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 23 shots.

Prince is continually engaged in soccer camps and clinics that are offered throughout the year and works directly with the young players in attendance.
