MADISON, Wis. - During the 2012 season, seniors Alexis Mitchell, Mary Ording and Bailey Reshel will give you an inside look at the Badger volleyball program.

In this week's first issue, Ording writes about preseason training, including receiving their 2012 gear, team bonding and

Hello Badger fans!

So many improvements, emotions, bruises, sore muscles, laughter, power naps and memories all thrown into a two-week span! We kicked off the season like we always do on day one, CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST!

“Twas’ the morning of preseason, and all through the Field House,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The gear bags were laid out by the court with care;
In hopes that Brittany Ewing soon would be there;
The Badgers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of preseason and new gear danced in their heads.”

When all the magic of Wisconsin apparel had calmed, it was time for team meetings to set the stage for a fabulous 2012 season. Day two we hit the Field House court with season goals fresh in our minds, decked out in some stylin’ new gear, and ready to get into practice with our coaches and two new baby badgers! Two-a-days means a lot of tired, tired badgers. But CAREFUL! Naps in the locker room subject you to creeping teammates taking photos and posting them on Facebook for all of your friends to see!

For this year’s big team bonding activity, we went to a ropes course near Madison. In the morning, we did small games and the low ropes course, which involved a big rope spider web, and low rope balance team challenges. The spider web challenge involved the whole team traveling through various open sections without touching any of the ropes by lifting and helping each other through it! One of our baby Badgers Ito made the BEST faces!

Bruises and more bruises!

After a team picnic, we strapped up our harnesses and headed over the high ropes course! A climbing obstacle course proved to be a lot harder than it looks for some of us, leaving lots of lovely looking bruises all over our bodies! We LOVED our time on the ropes course, but to say we were tired after a day of challenges is an understatement!

Big thanks to all the fans that came out to Fan Fest, the Red/White Scrimmage and Bucky’s Buddies Clinic! We have been working hard all day, all week, throughout preseason, and it was THE BEST to see smiling Badger fans all over the Field House again!
