MADISON, Wis. – More than 250 Badger volleyball season ticket holders got the inside scoop on the 2014 season during the second annual Meet and Greet in the UW Field House on Wednesday evening.
The evening kicked off with a social hour as members of the Wisconsin coaching staff chatted with guests while they enjoyed appetizers and drinks.
The voice of the Badger volleyball team Jon Arias kicked off the program by introducing Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez and his wife Cindy. Both encouraged fans in attendance to bring friends and family members to match to give the Badgers a home court advantage.
Head coach Kelly Sheffield then took the podium and talked about the upcoming season. After a few questions from Arias, fans had the opportunity to ask questions of Sheffield. Topics ranged from scheduling, recruiting and how his family is adjusting to Madison.
All fans are invited to the Fan Fest and Cardinal vs. White scrimmage on Saturday in the UW Field House. Admission is free.
Doors to the Field House open at 2 p.m. for the Fan Fest presented by HotelRED. Families and children of all ages are invited to meet the Badger players and practice volleyball skills with the team on the court or enjoy several off the court activities.
At 3 p.m., the Badger players and coaching staff will introduce themselves before warming up for the scrimmage, which begins at 3:30 p.m.
This is your only chance to see the volleyball team before it opens the home season on Sept. 12-13 with the HotelRED Invitational. Wisconsin travels to the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in Minneapolis, Minn., on Aug. 29-30 to kick off the year.
