MADISON, Wis. -- For nearly a dozen Wisconsin volleyball season ticket holders, they got a special surprise at their doors on Thursday night. No, it wasn’t Publisher’s Clearing House, but for any die-hard Badger fan, maybe just as good. Members of the Wisconsin volleyball team split up and spread out throughout the greater Madison area to personally deliver season tickets to randomly selected season ticket holders.
“This was a great way to connect with our fans,” said first-year head coach Kelly Sheffield. “The people we got a chance to meet were really surprised!”
Colleen Chase and her daughter, CoCo, have been season ticket holders for over five years. “It’s a fun, family thing to do,” said Chase. “They really enjoy high-fives for the kids during the starting lineups.
“I loved the excitement of our fans,” commented Deme Morales. “It made my day to see them so happy and surprised.”
Julia Mikaelsen echoed Morales’ comments, “I really enjoyed seeing how surprised the fans were to see us. Some had been season ticket holders for 15 years. Amazing!”
“We love the old barn and the atmosphere,” said Gary Nilles. The Nilles family has been season ticket holders for 15 years and can’t wait to bring their two-year old grandson to matches this season.
“Being an incoming freshman, it was a cool experience to get to know the fans and see their enthusiasm before getting to play in front of them,” said Haleigh Nelson.
“Seeing the excitement on each of our fans’ faces was awesome, said Victoria Ito. “So wonderful to surprise the fans at home.”
