MADISON, Wis. - Badger volleyball players Annemarie Hickey, Ellen Chapman and Courtney Thomas are spending 10 days training and competing with the USA Volleyball A2 program. The Badgers were named to the 47-player roster that will train and compete through July 4 in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships in Dallas, Texas.

The players will be sending daily updates from the A2 program with entries on the fourth entry coming from Courtney Thomas.

First Competition - Saturday, June 29

Well, today was a busy day for Ellen and I. We are both on Team White and are very excited to be on the same team. We woke up and had breakfast around 9 a.m. and then headed over to the convention center for practice.

Practice was only an hour long and there are many people who just stop and watch practice and then move on to watch their children play. Being in the convention center makes me think of all the times I used to be in those tournaments and I kind of miss them! (Ha Ha) When we were done with practice we went to get lunch as a team and then went back to the hotel to rest up before our match.

Our match was at 5:30 but we went at 3 p.m. to watch the two teams before us play which happens to be Anne's team. They won and Anne played great! Then it was our turn to play. Our match was point after point and just a battle for every point. The match went to five sets and we lost but it didn't feel like we lost. It was a great match and a lot of fun it just so happened that we didn't win.

After our match, we went to dinner with our team and then everyone was pretty tired and then we went to bed when we got home to rest up for our match against team Gold.
