MADISON, Wis. – Victoria Ito, a 5-5 defensive specialist from Buffalo Grove, Ill., has committed to play volleyball at the University of Wisconsin this fall, head coach Pete Waite announced today.
"We're looking forward to having a student-athlete like Victoria joining us,” says Waite. “She's as tenacious on the court as she is in the classroom and she'll add to the depth of our defensive corps."
Ito earned 2011 honorable mention all-state honors by the Champaign News-Gazette and Northwest Suburban all-area honors by the Daily Herald. A three-year starting libero at Buffalo Grove High School, Ito was also named to the All-Lake Shore team and Mid-Suburban all-conference team. She tallied 194 digs during the 2011 regular season.
A two-year team captain, Ito graduated first in her class of 537. She was a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and was an All-Academic Student-Athlete.
Ito also plays with Rolling Thunder Volleyball Club for coach Melissa Seelinger, where she has been a four-year starter at libero.
Ito joins Meghan Haggerty and Claire Raddatz in this fall’s freshman class.
