MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin volleyball team hosts its second spring match on Saturday, April 6 when Green Bay comes to town for a 6 p.m. match in the UW Field House. Admission is free.
A free open practice featuring the Badgers and Phoenix will be held from 2:30 - 4 p.m. in the Field House. All fans and teams are invited to attend. After the match, UW players will participate in a Q&A with fans.
The Phoenix were 15-14 last fall but Green Bay began a new era in January as Michaela Franklin was hired as Green Bay’s head coach. Franklin, who played at Kansas State, spent the last four years as an assistant coach at Marquette.
Franklin returns 11 letterwinners and five starters from last year's team. Junior Leah Poel, a 6-0 setter, averaged 10.18 assists per set running the Phoenix offense last fall. Junior Lyndsay Zabkowicz, a 6-0 outside hitter, averaged a team-best 3.09 kills per set while junior Katie Mronczenski, a 6-2 middle blocker, led the team with 1.17 blocks per set.
