2013 Volleyball Fab 50 List

MADISON, Wis. –  Future Badgers Lauren Carlini and Tori Blake have been named to the 2013 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 list. The list appears in the March issue of the magazine.

Carlini, a 6-2 setter/hitter, was one of three featured players on the list. She will join the Badger volleyball team this fall as one of the most honored recruits in UW history. Carlini was named the 2012-13 Gatorade Volleyball National Player of the Year and was the No. 1 recruit nationally by PrepVolleyball.com. She was also named to the 2012 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Under Armour All-America first team.

A native of Aurora, Ill., Carlini earned four AAU All-America awards, leading her Sports Performance club team, under directors and coaches Rick and Cheryl Butler, to numerous top-10 finishes.

Carlini was named the 2012 Chicago Sun Times Player of the Year and is the first player to be named the captain of the Daily Herald all-area team three times. Carlini was also named to all-state teams by the Chicago Tribune and Champaign News-Gazette.

Blake, a 6-3 middle blocker, is already training with the Badgers after graduating high school early and joining the team in January.

A native of Midland, Mich., Blake was ranked 89th nationally by PrepVolleyball.com after playing at Midland High School and Michigan Volleyball Academy. Blake was a top-10 finalist for Miss Michigan Volleyball and was a first-team all-state selection as a senior. She earned AVCA Under Armour All-America honorable mention honors.

Blake was a two-time all-conference and all-region selection as well as a member of the Midland Daily News Dream Team. Blake aided the Chemics to three conference championships with the team winning the regional title in 2012.
