Bailey Reshel joins Badgers
Jan. 21, 2010
MADISON, Wis. – Bailey Reshel, a native of Hortonville, Wis., has joined the University of Wisconsin volleyball team, coach Pete Waite announced today. A 6-0 outside/right-side hitter, Reshel played at the University of South Dakota her freshman season and will have three years of eligibility remaining. “We're excited to add Bailey to our roster this spring,” said Waite. “She's a great athlete who is determined to make the most of this opportunity. We didn’t have the chance to see her play in high school, but she caught our eyes when she played here in the Field House last fall with South Dakota. I immediately noticed her athleticism and realized that we had missed a real diamond in the rough from the northern part of Wisconsin. “It wasn't until the end of the season that we became aware of her interest in coming back to her home state, but we remembered her talent right away. Bailey is a fighter who will start spring training with us and we're looking forward to seeing what she can bring to the team.” Reshel earned all-tournament honors at the 2009 InnTowner Invitational for the Coyotes. She had an outstanding rookie campaign, being named the 2009 Great West Conference Freshman of the Year. She was also named to the 2009 Great West All-Newcomer team and earned second-team all-conference honors. Reshel played in all 30 matches for South Dakota as a freshman, starting 27. She finished second on the team with 2.56 kills per set, including 15 matches in double digits. Reshel also added 1.07 digs, 0.58 blocks and 0.11 service aces per set. A two-time All-Bay Conference selection at Hortonville High School for coach Leah Rosenbaum, Reshel was named the Appleton Post-Crescent Player of the Year as a senior. She put down 405 kills as a senior while adding 155 blocks and 121 digs. Reshel also played club volleyball with Wisconsin Volleyball Academy. Career Highs at South Dakota
