• Hickey records 16 saves
• Badgers win their ninth straight match

“Having come off a five gamer last night, it was not easy to start the day but they came through and got the win,” said head coach Pete, who needs only one more win for career victory No. 300 at Wisconsin.

“It was good to see Ellen Chapman get her offense back on track and it was good to see Mary Ording have a good outing offensively. Kt Kvas did a good job setting the offense most of the time.”

Chapman and Ording shared match-high honors with 12 kills apiece with Ording hitting .611.  The Badgers hit .279 (44 kills – 15 errors – 104 attempts) in the match while holding the Dolphins (2-10) to .129 (31-18-101). Gabriela Roman led JU with 10 kills.

Wisconsin had a strong defensive outing, outblocking Jacksonville 9-2 and outdigging it 43-36. Ording led all blockers with four stuffs while Chapman and Courtney Thomas each added three blocks.

Annemarie Hickey finished with a match-high 16 digs, needing only nine to bring her career total to 1,000. Deme Morales added eight digs and led all players with two aces as UW finished with a 4-2 advantage at the service line.

Thomas put up 20 assists at setter while Kt Kvas set most of the second and third sets, putting up 16 assists.

In the first set, Wisconsin broke a 7-7 tie, scoring three straight points to take a 10-7 lead. The Badgers extended their lead to six (17-11), an advantage the Dolphins couldn’t overcome.

UW switched its lineup in the second set, putting Kvas in at setter. JU led by as many as three points in the set until Wisconsin rallied to tie the score at 18 on block by Thomas and Alexis Mitchell. The Badgers broke a 21-21 knot, outscoring the Dolphins 4-1, led by two kills from Chapman, for the win.

Wisconsin led the third set by as many as six points (14-8) until Jacksonville came back and tied the set at 16. The Badgers got their lead back up to three (22-19) on a Thomas service ace but the Dolphins cut the lead to one (23-22) before kills from Ording and Morales gave UW the sweep.

The Badgers wrap up tournament play this afternoon, taking on South Alabama at 3 p.m.
