Off the Court with Sally Shumaker

First started volleyball: Age 9. I was on a 12s team with Al Wack and her mom was the coach!

Most memorable match: Beating Menomonee Falls in the Semifinals my junior year of high school

My favorite thing about Wisconsin Volleyball is: THE FANS!

Best road trip: Las Vegas by far... we got to experience the strip a little bit at night and saw a water/light show!

Before each match I: braid everyone's hair!

One word that describes the UW team is: indescribable

Favorite thing to do off-the-court with my teammates is: go to the movies and get off campus a little bit!

In off-season training, I worked on: Strength, quickness and endurance

This past summer, I: Took a two classes, worked at the Telefund, worked camps, gave private volleyball lessons, did a few parades for Miss Bristol, travelled to Pennsylvania to watch my brother race, worked out a lot, hung out with my family on the weekends at our lake, and got really tan!

If I wasn't playing college volleyball, I would be: Doing college track somewhere!

Is there anything significant about your uniform number? It was my older sister's number in college and club.

Who is the funniest player on the team? It's a close tie between Nellie and Elle, but I would say Nellie since she tells better stories!

Who is the best dressed player on the team? Brit!

My role models are: my family

What talent would you like to have? Sing well

Fantasy job/career: secret agent

One thing I absolutely have to do before I turn 40: live in a Spanish-speaking country

If I could bring one thing from my hometown, it would be: my family!
