SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Wisconsin junior Deanna Latham, in her second heptathlon of the year, finished 11th in the event at the 2014 U.S. Outdoor Championships with a score of 5,680 points at Hornet Stadium.
The score marked her best while competing in a Wisconsin uniform, as she set her personal-best score of 5,745 points earlier this year while competing unattached at the Bulldog Heptathlon. The score also ranks third in program history behind Jessica Flax and Dorcas Akinniyi.
Latham entered the day sitting in 14th-place, but a mark of 19 feet, 7 1/2 inches in the long jump helped propel the Wisconsin junior to 12th.
In the javelin, Latham was third with a throw of 135-11 and ended her day with a time of 2 minutes, 19.20 seconds.
Junior Kelsey Card will compete on Sunday in the discus at 1:45 p.m. (CT) to wrap up the meet for Wisconsin.
