MADISON, Wis. -- Another day, another record broken for the Badgers in a throws event.

This time senior Megan Rennhack brought in the top performance for Wisconsin at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. Rennhack shattered her own school record by nearly 10 feet with a throw of 163 feet, 4 inches in the javelin.

With her record throw, Rennhack took third in the competition and secured the top finish by any collegian in the field.

She now stands No 2 in the Big Ten and No. 20 in the country for the event. Freshman Emmon Rogers also competed in the javelin and took 15th with a mark of 117-1.

The Badgers’ last record dropped in the discus just two day ago on a big throw by junior Taylor Smith. Smith competed on Saturday as well, this time in the shot put.

Smith took top placing among the Wisconsin entries with a throw of 51 feet, 9 1/4 inches. Her mark earned her seventh in the competition.

Freshman Kelsey Card followed just behind in eighth with a heave of 51-0 3/4. Junior Jasmine Boyer kept the Badgers’ run going with a ninth-place finish on a throw of 49-8 1/2.

The last Wisconsin competitor was Abby Lueck. Lueck came in 12th with a throw of 47-2 1/4.

Across the country, the Drake Relays wrapped up competition with the final day of events in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sophomore Deanna Latham, senior Jessica Flax and freshmen Katelyn Malcore and Marissa Savitch joined forces for the shuttle hurdle relay and took sixth with a time of 58.32 seconds.

The Badgers’ lone field-event competitor of the day, junior Dorcas Akinniyi placed 12th in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 6 1/2 inches.

Sophomore Liga Blyholder closed out Wisconsin’s day with a performance in the 1500 meters, taking 10th with a time of 4:26.60.

Wisconsin’s weekend continues Sunday at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

Junior Ashley Beutler will run in the 1500 meters as well as the 3000-meter steeplechase. Beutler currently holds UW’s No. 2 all-time performance in the steeplechase and ranks No. 4 in the Big Ten this season.

The Big Ten’s leader in the 10,000 meters, junior Caitlin Comfort will compete in the 5000 meters on Sunday.
