MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women’s track and field team capped off a busy week of competition with several members of the team traveling to the Musco Twilight Invitational on Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa.

Wisconsin began the week of competition at the Mt. SAC Relays/California Invitational Combined Events in Azusa, Calif. UW’s Deanna Latham ranks 12th nationally in the heptathlon after the junior finished seventh with 5,493 points against elite competition.

On Saturday at Iowa’s Cretzmeyer Track and Field Complex, redshirt freshman Dana Steffen recorded the highest finish for a Badger at the competition, running to a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11 minutes, 14.95 seconds.

Sophomore Katelyn Malcore placed sixth in both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles. Malcore ran the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.02 and finished in a time of 1:07.01 in the 400 hurdles.

In the 3000 meters, sophomore Erica Spiegelberg took 13th with a time of 10:23.58, while sophomore Jessica Sykes ran to a 15th-place finish in 11:01.55

Also competing for Wisconsin, junior Elizabeth Sequin finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.87 and sophomore Victoria Paulson took 23rd in the 1500 meters recording a time of 4:46.88.

Wisconsin has another packed week of competition coming up, when the Badgers return to the sunny coast of California for UC San Diego’s Triton Invitational and Cal’s Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27. UW will also send some athletes to Standford's Payton Jordan invitational on Sunday.
