Position:
Volunteer Assistant Coach - Sprints

Luke Hoenecke begins his second year as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Wisconsin men's and women's track and field programs for the 2011 season. Hoenecke specifically works with the Badgers' sprinters, assisting both the men's and women's programs. In his first season, Hoenecke aided in the development of a men's sprints group that claimed a Big Ten title in the outdoor 4x100-meter relay and advanced its 4x400-meter relay squad to the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships. True freshman Gavin Robertson also raced to a runner-up finish in the 200 meters at the Big Ten outdoor meet and went on to qualify for the 2010 NCAA Preliminary Round. Two other members of the Badgers' relays, senior James Groce and sophomore Kyle Jefferson, also posted Big Ten finishes of third and fourth, respectively, in the outdoor 400 meters. The Badgers also finished third at the Big Ten championships in the indoor 4x400 relay. A 2008 UW graduate, Hoenecke lettered for the men's track team from 2006-2008 and was part of Badgers squads that claimed a combined seven Big Ten Conference indoor and outdoor titles during his four years of competition. A native of Winneconne, Wis., Hoenecke competed in the sprints and was part of two of the 10 fastest 4x400-meter relay teams in school history. He graduated in 2008 with degrees in economics and history.
