MADISON, Wis. – Badger sophomore Nicky Stracar (Jericho, N.Y.) has earned Big Ten Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday.
The award follows Stracar’s perfect 6-0 performance at the Green and White Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., over the weekend.
At the invite, the sophomore went 3-0 in singles and captured the flight A singles crown, while also posting an unblemished 3-0 record in doubles action with partner senior Alaina Trgovich (Munster, Ind.) to capture the flight A doubles championship.
The award marks the first of Stracar’s career and the first Wisconsin Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolade since Emese Kardhordo (Jan. 30, 2008).
Stracar ends the fall season with a 9-4 singles mark and 7-2 doubles record.
Wisconsin concluded its fall season at the Green and White Invitational and will now spend the next few months preparing for the spring season, which begins Jan. 21 in Madison.
