MADISON, Wis. – Wrapping up its fall season, the Wisconsin women’s tennis sends six to East Lansing, Mich., this weekend to compete in the Green and White Invitational,Nov. 4-6.
The Green and White Invitational field consists of players from six different schools. In addition to tournament-host Michigan State, Ball State, Bowling Green, Detroit Mercy and Eastern Michigan are also competing at the invite.
Representing the Badgers in draw A is sophomore Nicky Stracar (Jericho, N.Y.). Last time out, Stracar reached the third round of the main draw at the ITA Midwest Regional before falling to the No. 3 seed. This weekend, the sophomore will square off against Ball State’s Courtney Wild.
Senior Aleksandra Markovic (Belgrade, Serbia) is scheduled to face Chloe Karoub of Detroit Mercy in the opening round in draw B.
Fresh off a flight championship in her last outing, senior Lauren Gruber (Milwaukee, Wis.) will represent Wisconsin in draw C. Gruber is scheduled to meet up with Detroit Mercy’s Amanda Cornwell in the first round.
Sophomore Caroline Bauer (Winnetka, Ill.) will compete in draw D for Wisconsin. The sophomore will face Lauren Pickrel of Ball State.
UW will be well represented in the double’s field with its three pairs. Stracar will pair up with senior Alaina Trgovich (Munster, Ind.) in draw A. The duo of Bauer and Gruber will compete in draw B along with seniors Markovic and Angela Chupa (Bradenton, Fl.).
The Green and White Invitational serves as the finale to the Badgers’ fall season. Play is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday.
