MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's tennis team will open its fall season this weekend when it joins twelve other teams to compete in the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. The tournament will get underway on Friday before concluding on Sunday.
With a team that contains five freshmen and only one senior on its eight-woman roster, this weekend's event will be the first opportunity for Wisconsin head coach Brian Fleishman to see his young team in a Big Ten tournament environment.
The Badgers do return three letterwinners from last year. Senior Hannah Berner, junior Caroline Bauer, and sophomore Nova Patel will provide experience and leadership to the young Badger roster.
Wisconsin will be joined at the Spartan Invitational by Akron, Ball State, Cleveland State, Dayton, Illinois-Chicago, IPFW, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Purdue, Toledo, Xavier, and host school Michigan State.
