MADISON, Wis. - Li Ting, a women's doubles gold medalist from the 2004 Olympics, stopped by the Nielsen Tennis Stadium to see the Wisconsin women's tennis team in action this week.
The Olympic champion was in Madison as part of The Chinese Champions Program at University of Wisconsin - Madison, a partnership with the Beijing Sport University and China Scholarship Council. The program spotlights Wisconsin as Chinese Olympians are sent to UW to gain experience and new skills to prepare them for leadership positions in China's sports infrastructure.
For the Badgers, it meant an opportunity to meet one of the world's best tennis players, an athlete that many of them grew up watching in the Athens Games.
