Badgers make a wish come true Alexis Olsen joined the women's tennis team for a day of fun on the courts

MADISON, Wis. --Success in college athletics often comes after a lot of fight and determination, something 12-year old Alexis Olsen knows a lot about. On April 15, Alexis joined the Wisconsin women’s tennis team on the court to help them prepare for a Big Ten Conference showdown with the Indiana Hoosiers.
The Badgers welcomed Alexis to Nielsen Tennis Stadium as a part of the Wish Upon a Badger program. In 2010 Alexis was diagnosed with B-cell leukemia. The Janesville, Wis., native continues with maintenance treatment but is doing well. She practiced with the team and served as an honorary team captain in the match against the Hoosiers.
“Having Alexis be a part of our team for the weekend made everyone realize how important it is to give back,” head coach Brian Fleishman said. “Alexis has fought cancer and for now has won. She is an inspiration to everybody that knows her.”
Junior Caroline Bauer helped organize the event and Alexis’ inspiration paid off as the Badgers defeated the Hoosiers, 5-2, for their second Big Ten win of the season.
