MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s tennis team is ranked No. 70 in the latest ITA college tennis rankings, released Thursday.

The Badgers (5-1) become one of 75 teams recognized in the weekly ITA rankings after defeating then-No. 37 NC State, 6-1, Sunday, Feb. 12 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Wisconsin returns to the rankings for the first time since March 15, 2011 when it was ranked No. 72.

Last season, the Badgers reached as high as No. 54 in the polls during the week of March 8.

In their six matches this season, the Badgers have outscored their opponents, 33-9. At 5-1, Wisconsin is off to its best start under head coach Brian Fleishman, who is in his fifth season at UW.

The Badgers look to add a pair of road wins to their resume this weekend as they open up the road portion of their season in Utah. They play at BYU on Saturday and at Utah on Sunday.
