MADISON, Wis. - The 70th-ranked Wisconsin women's tennis team (6-1) picked up its first road win of the season, edging BYU, 4-3, at the Indoor Tennis Courts in Provo, Utah on Saturday.

The win is UW's first over the Cougars since the 2002 season.

The Badgers earned the crucial doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.

At No. 2 doubles, freshman Nova Patel and sophomore Nicky Stracar defeated Morgan Anderson and Desiree Tran, 8-2, while seniors Angela Chupa and Aleksandra Markovic topped Aubrey Paul and Lisa Waldron, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot.

UW suffered its only doubles loss at the No. 1 spot, where senior Alaina Trgovich and junior Hannah Berner fell to Megan Price and Meghan Sheehan-Dizon, 8-6.

With just two singles matches remaining, the Cougars led 3-2, but Wisconsin was able to pick up two big wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots to escape Provo with the win.

Markovic registered a singles victory for UW at No. 6 to even the match at 3-3 by defeating Lisa Waldron in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

The win left Patel as the last Badger on the court. She rallied from a tiebreak loss in the first set to clinch Wisconsin's victory. The freshman remains undefeated following a 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4 win over Aubrey Paul at the No. 5 spot.

Stracar recorded the Badgers' first singles win, and her first win at the No. 1 spot of the season, with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Desiree Tran.

Competing at No. 2 for the first time this season, Hannah Berner dropped a three-set match to Megan Price, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 3, Alaina Trgovich was defeated by Morgan Anderson, 6-3, 6-3.

After losing the first set, freshman Sarah Loebel came back to take the second set before falling in a tiebreak in the third set. Loebel was ousted by Meghan Sheehan-Dizon at No. 4, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(4)

UW looks to pick up another win on the road win Sunday when it plays at Utah. The matchup against the Utes is set for 12 p.m. CT.
