Kimmitt earns second swim, Weiss narrowly misses on semifinals

Women's 200m Breast Semifinals Results  |  Men's 200m IM Prelim Results

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin swimmers Brittany Kimmitt and Michael Weiss both posted top-20 times in the 200-meter breaststroke and 200 individual medley, respectively, on Friday at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.

Kimmitt posted 2:30.17 in the 200 breast, earning the 15th-best time in the prelims and a spot in the semifinals. Swimming later the same day, Kimmitt placed 14th in the semis with a time of 2:31.04.

Closing out a fantastic run at the trials, Weiss recorded a time of 2:03.27 in the 200 IM in his final event of the week. The time was the 19th fastest in prelims, but only the top 16 advanced to the semifinals.

Six Badgers still have races left to swim at the trials, which have been running since Monday, June 25, and continue until Sunday, July 1.

Hannah Ross and Garrett Mulchrone are swimming today in the 200 back and 100 fly, respectively. The trio of Ivy Martin, Ruby Martin and Beckie Thompson are set to compete in the 50 free on Sunday. While Marcus Guttman will also swim on Sunday, but in the 1500 free.
