MADISON, Wis. – Each year the Madison Sports Hall of Fame Club honors some of the area’s top athletes and teams from the past year at its annual Hall of Fame Induction Banquet.

This year’s banquet, which is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 at the Monona Terrace, will have a Badgers flavor as a pair of UW affiliates will be honored with individual awards. Sophomore swimmer Ivy Martin was named the Strand Associates Madison Sportswoman of the Year, while Badgers’ football and basketball radio announcer Matt Lepay earned the Mendota Gridiron Club's Pat O'Dea award.

Martin earned the Big Ten title in the 50-yard freestyle this past season, setting a new conference mark while also becoming just the second female ever in Big Ten history to break the 22-second barrier.

The Madison native also earned NCAA All-American honors in 2013 after her sixth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA championships. Among her numerous honors in 2013, Martin was named a first-team All-Big Ten honoree and was also twice named the conference’s swimmer of the week.

Lepay has served as the radio broadcaster for University of Wisconsin football since 1994 and Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball since 1988. He is a six-time winner of the Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year Award and has called 16 postseason football games and 16 NCAA tournaments, including the UW’s run to the Final Four in 2000.

Tickets for the event are $45. A limited number of tickets remain. The event is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend and salute this exceptional group of inductees. Contact Peg Mueller (238-5907) for tickets and information.
