MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin head softball coach Yvette Healy has announced the signing of three members of the class of 2013 to national letters of intent. Iowa native Chloe Miller, Illinois native Sara Novak and California native Nyah Rodman will join the Badgers in the fall of 2013.

Chloe Miller - SS/C - Bettendorf, Iowa / Pleasant Valley High School

Miller is a three-time member of the Iowa Girls Coaches Association all-state softball first team, leading Pleasant Valley High School to a third place finish in the 2011 and 2012 state tournament.

Healy on Miller: “Chloe Miller is a phenomenal athlete from Pleasant Valley High School in Iowa. She’s received outstanding mentoring from her high school coach, Lori Osterberg-Duncan, a former softball standout at UL-Lafayette and coach at LSU. Chloe is a fierce competitor who hits with power from the left side of the plate. She’s a great leader on defense, with the ability to run the field at shortstop and behind the plate. We’re thrilled to have recruited Chloe from Merle Miller’s Southeast Iowa All-Stars.”

Sara Novak - R/R - SS/P/UT - Shorewood, Ill. / Minooka Community High School

Novak was named conference MVP her junior year after leading her team to a conference title. She earned All-Area first team honors and set school records for strikeouts (227), strikeouts per inning (1.787) and opponent batting average (.159). Novak finished her junior campaign with a 14-5 record and 1.65 ERA and posted a .453 batting average with three home runs, five triples and 14 doubles.

In her sophomore campaign, Novak was named first team All-Conference and All-Area. She finished the season with a .414 batting average and her 12 home runs were a Minooka Community High School best.

Novak plays for high school coaches Mark Brown and Amy Saelens and is a member of the New Lenox Lightning for coach Jim Abbott.

Healy on Novak: “We are thrilled to have Sarah Novak join the Badger softball family. Sarah is one of the premier athletes in the Chicagoland area. After playing for years in Jim Abbott’s New Lenox Lightning Gold program, we know that Sarah will be sound fundamentally, prepared to walk in and make an immediate impact on the left side of the infield. We love her strength, leadership, athleticism and intelligence. She has great range and quickness in addition to exciting homerun power.”

Nyah Rodman - LHP - Lakewood, Calif. / Mayfair High School

Healy on Rodman: “Nyah Rodman is one of the most impressive young women we’ve had the honor of recruiting to the University of Wisconsin. She is a well-rounded leader, with outstanding grades, and a commitment to community service. She has a tremendous amount of potential as a left-handed hitter and pitcher at the BCS level. She’ll bring a great physical presence to the field defensively, at the plate, and on the mound. We are thrilled to have recruited another great student-athlete from Terry Schweikert’s TeamSmith organization to join the Badger softball family.”
