MADISON, Wis. -- Inclement weather in the Madison area has forced the cancelation on Friday’s Big Ten softball game between No. 25 Wisconsin and Michigan State at Goodman Diamond. The Badgers and Spartans will play at 1 p.m. on Saturday and conclude the series with a doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon.
Wisconsin (38-9, 15-5) is in the midst of an eight-game conference winning streak and currently sits in second place in the league standings heading into the final weekend of regular-season play.
Michigan State (22-23, 7-9) enters the weekend series in eighth place in the Big Ten, losers of its last eight conference games.
Both teams will make the trip to the Big Ten tournament May 9-12 in Lincoln, Neb., with the top-four teams receiving a first round bye. The tournament field will be set Monday evening following the conclusion of regular season action. The winner of the conference championship will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
