NFCA Poll | USA Softball Poll
MADISON, Wis. -- For the first time since 2002, Wisconsin finds itself back in the national spotlight. The Badgers are ranked No. 25 in this week’s edition of the USA Today/NFCA Division I softball poll, while making their program debut in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll with a No. 23 ranking.
Wisconsin (27-4 overall, 5-1 Big Ten) was last ranked in a national poll during the 2002 season, checking in at No. 25 in the USA Today/NFCA rankings on March 21. The Badgers highest ranking came in the 2001 season when they were ranked No. 21 three times.
Over the weekend, Wisconsin went 2-1 in a three-game series at Iowa to win its second-consecutive Big Ten Conference match up. The Badgers swept Illinois to open the league season March 22-23.
UW’s hot start to the season has all happened away from Madison, as the Badgers wrap up a 34-game road swing with a Big Ten series at Minnesota this weekend. Wisconsin is scheduled to open the season at Goodman Diamond on April 10 against Northern Iowa.
