EUGENE, Ore. -- Playing in win or go home game, the Wisconsin softball team came up big against BYU Friday afternoon, defeating the Cougars 6-0 to stay alive in the NCAA tournament.
The Badgers (43-12) opened scoring with two runs in the top of the second to take an early 2-0 lead over BYU (33-25).
Stephanie Peace added to the lead with a three-run home run in the top of the third and Wisconsin plated a run in the top of the fourth to take 6-0 lead.
Cassandra Darrah earned her 27th win of the season, pitching 6.0 innings, holding the Cougars to just two hits. Taylor-Paige Stewart finished the game, throwing the final inning.
The Badgers will take the field against North Carolina at approximately 7 p.m. CT. The winner advances to the championship game on Saturday, while the loser will be eliminated from tournament play.
