With the score tied 1-1 in the first game, Green Bay (10-19) used a big seventh inning to defeat the Badgers. After a leadoff single, the Phoenix capitalized on a Badger error to take a 2-1 lead.

With their backs against the wall, the Badgers (30-9) stranded a runner on second base in the bottom of the inning, falling 2-1 to the Phoenix.

Wisconsin’s struggles continued into the second game when Green Bay scored three runs in the first inning, forcing the Badgers to play from behind.

Mary Massei sparked UW’s offense in the bottom of the second, sending Kendall Grimm home on a double to right field to cut Green Bay’s lead to two.

The Badgers cut Green Bay’s lead down to one in the bottom of the third after a sacrifice fly by Michelle Mueller plated a run.

After stranding 11 runners on base in the first five innings, Wisconsin finally took advantage in the sixth when Whitney Massey hit the game-winning home run, scoring Stephanie Peace from first base.

Wisconsin held off Green Bay with three quick outs in the seventh to earn the 4-3 win.

Cassandra Darrah pitched a complete game, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits, walking one and striking out seven.

Meghan McIntosh suffered the loss in the day’s first game, throwing seven complete innings and allowing two runs on four hits, striking out six and walking one.

Wisconsin continues its home stand on Friday, hosting Ohio State in a Big Ten Conference three game series.  The first pitch of the series is on Friday at 6 p.m. at Goodman Diamond.
