FULLERTON, Calif. -- The Wisconsin softball team wasted no time getting back into its winning ways, defeating CSU-Bakersfield 11-4 Saturday night at Anderson Field in Fullerton, Calif. The Badgers used 14 hits to score 11 runs on their way to their 13th win of the year.

Wisconsin (13-3) waited until the third inning to get its offense going, but the wait was worth it. With a runner on, Shannel Blackshear ripped her fifth home run of the season over the center field fence to give Wisconsin a two-run lead. UW posted back-to-back singles to finish the third frame up 3-0.

A run in the fifth inning was followed by three in the sixth, including a homer by Whitney Massey, and Wisconsin found itself with a 7-0 lead.

Taylor-Paige Stewart's shutout attempt was broken up in the bottom of the sixth inning when CSU-Bakersfield (1-10) scored three runs on two hits to spark a small rally.

The Badgers answered right back with four runs in the top of the seventh and Bakersfield posted a run in the bottom of the inning to end the game 11-4 in favor of the Badgers.

Stewart went the distance on the mound, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out six. CSU's pitchers combined to allow 10 earned runs on 14 hits and strike out six batters.

Wisconsin wraps up action at the Easton Invitational on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT against Cal Poly.
