MADISON, Wis. -- Following a 12-6-1 regular season, the University of Wisconsin women’s soccer team earned the No. 6 seed in the 2012 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament, and will battle No. 3 Michigan at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in opening-round action on Wednesday.
The tournament is scheduled to run through Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, Ind.
Wisconsin earns its second-straight trip to the postseason.
The 2012 Big Ten Conference Tournament kicks off on Wednesday as No. 4 Minnesota will take on No. 5 Illinois at 9 a.m., followed by top-seeded Penn State going up against No. 8 Iowa. Just before UW takes to the field, No. 2-seeded Ohio State will meet No. 7 seed Nebraska at 3:30 p.m.
The Badgers are 12-11-2 all-time in the Big Ten tournament, and have not won the eight-team tilt since 2005.
The tournament semifinals begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, while the championship game will start at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4. For the first time, BTN will provide full coverage of the tournament, as the quarterfinals will be streamed live on the Big Ten Digital Network. The semifinals and finals will be available on both BTN and BTN2Go.
