MADISON, Wis. - After posting a shutout against the Ottawa Fury, Wisconsin junior goalkeeper Genevieve Richard was named Player of the Week, the W-League recently announced.
Richard tallied seven saves for the Hamilton FC Rage in the team's 1-0 victory over Ottawa. The win catapulted the Rage to the top of the standings in the Central Conference and snapped Ottawa's 17-game regular-season winning streak. Richard's consistent play has seen her post a pair of shutouts in back-to-back contests, as the Quebec-native backstopped a 1-0 victory against Rochester on May 23.
Richard is one of three goalies on UW's roster who will look to replace Big Ten Goalie of the Year Michele Dalton during the 2012 season.
