MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin women’s soccer coaching staff invites area youth soccer players to take part in the program’s summer camps held in Madison throughout the month of July.
Head coach Paula Wilkins and assistant coaches Tim Rosenfeld and Kristen Weiss will host four different camps this summer, which accommodate players of all ages.
The first camp of the summer is the Elite Academy, July 7-10.
An overnight camp for girls entering 5th-8th grades, the Elite Academy is designed to prepare players to compete and train at a higher level. Sessions focus on technique development as well as teamwork, team tactics and strategy. An additional area of concentration is the development of positional skills through practices designed to improve positional awareness and understanding.
Elite Training Camp will be held July 12-15 for girls entering 9th-12th grades.
The Elite Training Camp is intended for players who would like to develop a greater understanding of the demands of being a Division I Women’s Soccer player. Sessions include topics such as: Strength and Conditioning; Video Match Analysis; Positional Training; Fitness Testing; Team Tactics; among others. Campers will have the opportunity to work firsthand with UW coaching staff and players, plus additional staff that includes Olympic Development Program (ODP) and college coaches.
For children of a younger age, the UW staff also hosts Badger Soccer Day Camp (both full day and half day options) for girls ages 6-12 and Little Stars camp for girls ages 4-6, from July 21-25.
The Badger Day Camp provides an opportunity to focus on fundamental skill instruction in a fun and relaxed setting. Boasting an excellent coach-to-camper ratio, this camp will feature small groups focused on individual technique and small-sided games. Campers will have the opportunity to work first hand with UW players and coaches, while also gaining a great opportunity to learn more about soccer and have a fun experience.
