BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Following losses in three of its last four matches, the Wisconsin women's soccer team looked to get back on track in the environment that they received so much success from early in the season--the road.

But in a match where the eventual victor would be the team who made the least amount of mistakes, UW made one too many in a low-scoring duel, losing, 1-0, to the Indiana Hoosiers in its final road match of the season on Sunday afternoon.

"We didn't have a consistent enough performance today," UW head coach Paula Wilkins said. "We were not good enough in the final third of the match and Indiana finished their chances.

"Give the Hoosiers credit for that."

Fast Facts
• Badgers move to 6-2-2 on road
• UW is shut out for just second time this season
• Match marks last regular season road match for UW

Neither Wisconsin nor Indiana created many scoring chances in the first half, leading to a period of scoreless play in Bloomington. The Hoosiers garnered a 7-2 advantage in shots after 45 minutes.

Despite being outshot in the first half, Wisconsin was able to create some offensive pressure, earning six corner-kick opportunities.

Indiana led in the shot column for the entire game, but was unable to really sustain any offensive pressure until the 75th minute when the Hoosiers rang a shot off crossbar.

IU continued to test the Badgers' defense, but this time amassed enough force to net the match's lone goal.

The Hoosiers broke the 0-0 tie in the 78th minute, as Abby Smith buried a header passed UW goalkeeper, Genevieve Richard.

Knowing that another Big Ten loss would hurt its chances at climbing the standings, Wisconsin brought all the offense they had in the last 20 minutes.

The Badgers were unable to net the equalizer, though, giving the Hoosiers their sixth conference win of the season.

UW, a team that averages over two goals per game, was shut out for just the second time this year.

"I'm disappointed in the result, but we have to regroup for our next match," Wilkins said.

The Badgers return home to Madison for their final regular season match on Saturday, Nov. 2 to battle Northwestern. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. CT.
