Wilkins' way working for Wisconsin

Three years ago, Paula Wilkins led Penn State past Boston College in a 1-0 victory to make her fifth appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA women's soccer tournament.Now, in her third year as head coach at Wisconsin, Wilkins has led a team from the bottom half of the Big Ten Conference to its first NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance in 16 years - and a meeting with Boston College.

The Badgers will travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Friday, Nov. 20 where they will take on second-seeded and seventh-ranked BC at 7 p.m. ET. Both teams will play for a chance to advance to the quarterfinals to take on the winner of the Stanford vs. Santa Clara game.

Wisconsin faces Arizona State in first round of NCAA Tournament

The Badgers (9-5-5, 5-1-4 Big Ten) have been selected to host the first and second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament this Friday and Sunday, Nov. 13 and 15, at the McClimon Soccer Complex. Wisconsin will face Arizona State for the first meeting between the two teams at 7:30 p.m. following UW-Milwaukee and Central Florida who play at 5 p.m. The winner of the two games will play each other on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. in the second round of the tournament.

Five Badgers named to All-Big Ten Teams

After improving seven spots in the Big Ten Conference standings, the Wisconsin women's soccer team had two players named second-team All-Big Ten honorees while four rookies made the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Sophomore forward Laurie Nosbusch and freshman midfielder Alev Kelter mark UW's first appearance on the All-Big Ten Conference Teams since Kara Kabellis earned first team honors in 2006.
