MADISON, Wis. - Three current and two former Wisconsin women's hockey players are participating in the U.S. Women's National Team Winter Camp which began Dec. 26 in Blaine, Minn.
Current Badgers, Courtney Burke, Brianna Decker and Alex Rigsby join former Badgers Hilary Knight and Jessie Vetter at the annual camp.
A total of 36 players were invited to the camp, including 13 2010 Olympians and 18 players that competed for Team USA at the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship. Burke, a freshman, is also the youngest player attending the camp.
The group of 36 players is broken into two teams of 18; Burke and Knight are on Team White, while Decker, Rigsby and Vetter are on Team Blue.
The six-day camp will include two days of physical fitness testing, three days of practice, and three games. All games will be open to the public. The three games will be played on Friday, Dec. 28, at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at 6 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 31, at 8:45 a.m. All games will be played at the National Sports center in Blaine, Minn., and admission is free.
