MADISON, Wis. -- UWBadgers.com caught up with sophomore Breann Frykas (East St. Paul, Manitoba) in this week’s segment of “Badger Breakaway,” where the UW women’s hockey players share some of their favorites on and off the ice.
Frykas and the second-ranked Badgers are idle until Jan. 1-2, 2011 when they travel to St. Cloud, Minn., for the Easton Holiday Showcase against Northeastern and Mercyhurst at the National Hockey Center.
UWBadgers.com: What’s your favorite arena to play in away from the Kohl Center?
Frykas: I like playing at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. I played there a lot in high school.
UWBadgers.com: What is your favorite pregame meal?
Frykas: Breakfast, for sure.
UWBadgers.com: What’s one thing that you bring with on every road trip?
Frykas: A lot of enthusiasm. I’m a pretty funny person, and I like to crack jokes a lot.
UWBadgers.com: What’s your pregame routine?
Frykas: I have a few things that I always do. I like listening to my iPod in the stands and playing soccer, but it kind of depends how my body feels each day. I adapt my routine a little bit.
UWBadgers.com: What’s your favorite practice drill?
Frykas: Oil springs.
UWBadgers.com: Who do you think is the toughest competitor on the team?
Frykas: Brianna Decker.
UWBadgers.com: What’s the thing that you love most about Madison?
Frykas: The people. It’s a lot of fun here.
UWBadgers.com: What is your favorite road trip to go on?
Frykas: Probably Minnesota.
UWBadgers.com: What is your favorite professional sports team?
Frykas: The Nashville Predators because my uncle coaches the team.
UWBadgers.com: What has been your proudest moment in your hockey career so far?
Frykas: Representing Team Canada in the IIHF World Women’s Under-18 Championships and earning a silver medal in Germany.
