MADISON, Wis. -- UWBadgers.com caught up with redshirt junior Carla Pentimone (Chicago, Ill.) in this week’s segment of “Badger Breakaway,” where the UW women’s hockey players will share some of their favorites on and off the ice.

This weekend, Pentimone and the No. 2 Badgers travel to St. Cloud, Minn., for a WCHA series against St. Cloud State. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday the National Hockey Center.

UWBadgers.com:  What’s your favorite pre-game meal?
Pentimone:
I love breakfast, and I invented the pancakes with bananas. I mean, it’s a pretty simple concept. All you do is slice up some bananas into the pancakes, but you wouldn’t imagine how amazing they are. Kind of like banana bread. Meghan Duggan makes a mean banana bread. It’s really good.

UWBadgers.com: What is your favorite arena to play in away from home?
Pentimone:
I would have to say it’s Agganis Arena. We played for the national championship there. It was just amazing, and I really liked the lighting in there. It was awesome.

UWBadgers.com: What’s one thing that you bring with on every road trip?
Pentimone:
I bring with my very fluffy pillow. It has a lot of feathers and I definitely prefer the feathers over the cotton, so thank you birds.

UWBadgers.com:  Who’s the toughest competitor on the team?
Pentimone:
Definitely the toughest competitor would have to be Madison Packer because she roughs me up after practice. Just about every practice she’ll give me a little shove here and there to toughen me up.

UWBadgers.com:  What’s been the proudest moment of your hockey career?
Pentimone:
It would have to be, well, when I made the team here. I went up to Coach after he told me that I was on the team and I said, “Can I have a hug, Coach?” And he said, “Nope,” and then he patted me on the shoulder. But it’s okay because he made my college career.

UWBadgers.com: What’s your favorite practice drill?
Pentimone:
My favorite practice drill is definitely oil springs. Love it.

UWBadgers.com:  What’s the thing that you love most about Madison?
Pentimone:
I would have to say the cheese and the ice cream. The dairy that we have in the city of Madison, and Wisconsin in general, is absolutely phenomenal.

UWBadgers.com: Who is the funniest player on the team?
Pentimone:
Stefanie McKeough. She is quite hilarious. We text each other all the time. It can be over the most ridiculous, hilarious things, and she’ll have me cracking up for an entire day.
