MADISON, Wis. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced freshman forward Brianna Decker was named Rookie of the Week after collecting three points over the weekend.
Decker helped lead the Badgers to a victory and a tie against No. 5-ranked and WCHA foe Minnesota Duluth. This is the second time this season Decker has been honored (also on Oct. 7).
Decker, a Dousman, Wis., native, had a multi-assist game in last Friday’s (Dec. 4) 3-1 UW victory over the Bulldogs. Her first assist helped put Wisconsin on the board first and her second assist helped set up the eventual game-winning goal. On Sunday (Dec. 6), Decker opened the scoring for the Badgers against UMD midway through the second period with her sixth goal of the season in what ended as a 2-2 overtime tie.
In addition to her three scoring points, Decker also fired 10 shots on goal in the series.
