MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin women's hockey goaltender Alex Rigsby was named the Defensive Player of the Week by the WCHA on Wednesday.
After shutting out New Hampshire and being named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31, Rigsby posted back-to-back shutouts against Minnesota State over the Nov. 2-3 weekend. She made a total of 36 saves against the Mavericks, setting a career-best shutout streak spanning 189:29 minutes.
The junior from Delafield, Wis., took off with Team USA for the 2012 Four Nations Cup in Finland and earned in the start in the team's first game against Sweden on Tuesday. Rigsby continued her shutout streak on the international stage posting nine saves in a 4-0 win.
Wisconsin resumes play next week with a conference road trip to Ohio State on Nov. 16-17.
