MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's hockey team was picked second in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason polls that were released on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
The Badgers finished the 2011-12 season in the No. 2 spot in both polls.
Three other teams from the WCHA were ranked in the top-10, with Minnesota taking both unanimous No. 1 selections. North Dakota was tabbed fifth in both, while Minnesota Duluth was picked seventh in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and eighth in the USCHO.com poll.
Wisconsin opens its season with a pair of WCHA games against Minnesota State in Mankato, Minn., starting on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
