Badgers tabbed No. 7 in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll

With the Wisconsin women’s hockey season around the corner, the Badgers were picked No. 7 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason poll, the organizations announced Tuesday.  

The Badgers finished the 2012-13 season ranked No. 10 and attained a 23-10-2 record.

Two other teams from the WCHA grabbed spots in the top-10. Minnesota earned 18 of the possible 19 first-place votes to earn the No. 1 ranking, while North Dakota was tabbed No. 5.

Boston College earned the second spot with 160 points and one first-place vote, while Clarkson and Boston University were third and fourth, respectively. Wisconsin plays Boston University on Nov. 16 in Vail, Colo. The Badgers also play No. 10 Northeastern on Nov. 15 in Vail, Colo.

The Badgers open the season with an exhibition contest against Team Japan at LaBahn Arena on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. Admission is free for the contest.

Wisconsin begins regular season play at home with a pair of WCHA tilts against Minnesota State on Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Oct. 5. Game times are set for 7 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
