COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- University of Wisconsin women's hockey associate head coach Dan Koch has been selected as a coach for the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Evaluation Camp, USA Hockey announced on Tuesday.
The camp, which runs from Aug. 13-18 in Lake Placid, N.Y., features 30 players vying for a spot on the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team that will compete in the 2013 Under-18 Series vs. Canada on Aug. 22-25.
"It is always a great opportunity when you get to work with Team USA," Koch said. "You get to work with other outstanding coaches from across the country, and it is an honor to work the camp. It is a great teaching tool and we hope the team can get a gold medal."
Koch is the second UW coach to be selected to work with a national under-18 team, as Wisconsin assistant coach Jackie Friesen is serving as an assistant on the Canadian National Under-18 squad.
Koch begins his third season as associate head coach this fall after serving as the head coach for the Shattuck-St. Mary's Girls Under-16 team. In his two years as a head coach at Shattuck-St. Mary's he compiled an overall record of 80-30-12 and claimed a Tier I 16-U National titles with the Sabres in 2010. Prior to his stint at Shattuck-St. Mary's, Koch served as an assistant coach at Wisconsin from 2001-2009 as he helped the Badgers claim its first three national titles.
